The Corelli Ensemble with Evelyn Tubb (soprano)

Corelli Orchestra

A varied programme of French and English recreational music from the eighteenth century: among the themes it explores and contrasts are the approaches to the trio sonata (Lé and Handel); solo harpsichord accompanied by strings (Rameau and Bach); the transition from baroque to classical styles (Mondonville and Hayes); and the early classical idiom (Bach). Both the Hayes and Bach are light-hearted, humorous pieces which make an attractive conclusion to the programme.

Evelyn Tubb
  • Léclair – Deuxiè Recré de Musique
  • Rameau – Piè de claveçin en concert no. 1 (French opera aria)
  • Mondonville – Sonate in G minor
  • Handel Trio – Sonata in G major Op. 5 no. 4
  • William Hayes – Chloe's Dream
  • J C Bach – Harpsichord Concerto in D Op. 3 no. 6 (with variations on God Save the King)
