Antony Peebles

After winning both the BBC and Debussy piano competitions in the early 1970s, Antony has enjoyed a most successful career having performed in 131 different countries. His recordings have received great critical acclaim.

Pro Musica String Trio

The Pro Musica String Trio have performed the major works of the classical repertoire as well as the music of early 20th composers such as Lennox Berkeley and Kodaly. During the season they are performing in major venues and music clubs in the UK.

The Coull String Quartet have performed and broadcast extensively to great acclaim, throughout the UK, USA, Western Europe, the Far East and Australia. As part of today's recital we shall hear Derek Smith's Quartet no. 4 which is influenced by 'Carolingua', a work that won for him the BBC/Henschel Quartet Prize in 2008.

Concert Royal

Concert Royal

Concert Royal celebrate forty years of early music making in 2014. Playing period instruments and performing in historically-informed style, the ensemble recreate the elegant sound worlds of the baroque and classical eras. They have given hundreds of recitals throughout the UK, toured in Europe, USA and for the British Council in South America.

Jane Austen was a keen amateur musician with a large collection of music. The programme includes songs and instrumental music drawn from her collection and contemporary sources. Brief extracts from letters and novels provide a fascinating glimpse into Jane Austen's musical world.

The programme includes music by Handel, JC Bach, and Dr Thomas Arne and his English contemporaries.
